Wow what I never realized the colors were inverted
You’d think I would have noticed that
That’s the point. The world Coraline lives in is supposed to be boring and gray, but the people are what give it life and purpose. In the Other Mother’s world the people are plastic puppets where she pulls the strings because it presumably changes for every child she takes, but the world around them is bright and colorful for the purpose of enticing the children to stay… before they notice the inhabitants are nothing but dust.

#he looks like a hitman in hiding #just laying low for a while till he’s out of danger but he’s bored out of his MIND #BUT THEN #he notices that he seems to be noticing his neighbor a bit too often #he gets suspicious and so the next time she passes his door he opens it and steps into the hall and like #engages her in baiting conversation #tryin to figure out if she actually knows anything or if she’s just a stalker #THUS BEGINS A WEIRD-ASS FRIENDSHIP THAT’S HOT AND COLD AND NEITHER OF THEM REALLY KNOW IF THE OTHER’S EVER TELLING THE TRUTH #AND HE’S ACTUALLY REALLY INTO IT BECAUSE HE WAS SO B O R E D BEFORE SHE CAME ALONG #and she’s smart and secretive and she’s got a really dark sense of humor and gives her spare change to the kids in the building #AND SHE’S QUICK ON HER FEET #and when the guys who are after him find him he takes them out and then goes to her apartment bc he’s injured #and after a second’s shock she fixes him up and he tells her that more will be coming #and that she could stay here but he thinks they might have noticed their friendship and might hurt her to try to find out where he is #and so she should come with him because he doesn’t want anything to happen with her #and traveling with him is dangerous but he believes that if she stays she’ll be in more danger #and she decides to go with him but she’s DECIDEDLY NOT OKAY WITH IT #I JUST WANT TO WRITE THEIR FIRST CONVERSATION IN THE CAR #AWKWARDNESS QUICKLY ESCALATING INTO HOSTILITY AND YELLING AND THEN QUICKLY COOLING DOWN AGAIN AS THEY REALIZE THEY DON’T WANT TO YELL AT EACH OTHER #(see what you did to me Mikkelsen)
